For NFL fans this is the best time of the year, everyone is 0–0 and fans of all teams have optimism that if things go just the right way their team could be playing meaningful football in December, January, and maybe even February.

The fantasy teams have been started, the football picks have been submitted, and everyone is sharing what they think will happen. It is one of my favorite times of the year and I look forward to sharing my thoughts on the upcoming season.

As is tradition here are 32 facts about the 2023 NFL season.

  1. The Buffalo Bills will struggle all season and be the best team to miss the playoffs
  2. Aaron Rodgers will struggle with a new team early, get hot late, and miss out on the playoffs in a ultra competitive AFC.
  3. Bill Belichick will quiet the doubters and have the New England Patriots back in the playoffs.
  4. Kenny Pickett will be a top 10 quarterback and the Pittsburgh Steelers will win the AFC North.
  5. Lamar Jackson will return to Pro Bowl form with new weapons and a new offensive scheme and have the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs.
  6. The Cleveland Browns are as talented as any team in the NFL and will come up clutch Week 18 to make the playoffs.
  7. Joe Burrow will struggle to stay healthy all season and the Cincinnati Bengals will just never get it going and will miss the playoffs.
  8. Mike Vrabel is a top 5 NFL coach and he will remind us all of that again as he leads the Tennessee Titans to an AFC South title.
  9. Trevor Lawrence has a lot of winning in his future and this year will be a rare season in which 10 wins for the Jaguars isn’t enough for the playoffs.
  10. DeMeco Ryans will have Houston trending in the right direction but there isn’t enough talent, a tough season ahead for the Texans.
  11. Anthony Richardson is going to be a lot of fun to watch but unfortunately the other 52 Colts wont be, it’ll be a long year in Indy.
  12. Kelce is hurt, Jones is sitting out, they lost the opener, it doesn’t matter as Kansas City has Mahomes and he will win the west.
  13. Coaching matters and Sean Payton is one of the greats, he will have Russ cooking but will fall just short of the playoffs.
  14. Blowing a 27–0 lead in the playoffs doesn’t just go away, despite all the talent you could want, Herbert and LA is home in January.
  15. Players don’t really like Josh McDaniels but they’ll only have to deal with him for about 10 games or so as he is the first coach fired for the Raiders.
  16. Philly builts a team the way I would build a team and they’ll be the winner of the NFC East
  17. Daboll was the Coach of the Year last year and he will be a great coach in the NFL but you can’t win 2 years straight with Daniel Jones.
  18. Daniel Snyder is out which makes this the best season this century for Washington but it won’t be good enough to lead them to a winning record.
  19. Green Bay develops good Quarterbacks and wins games, it is what they do, Jordan Love will impress and win the North
  20. Detroit will shock the world in the opener (Ok, mayyybbbee I am writing this on Saturday) and will be fun all season winning the first playoff game in forever for Detroit.
  21. Minnesota hit blackjack everytime they needed it last year and it just doesn’t happen this year for the Vikings.
  22. I am an Ohio State fan, I want Justin Fields to be good, problem is he can’t really throw that well, Bears struggle all year.
  23. New Orleans is a perfectly average team but the NFC South is absolutely dreadful so they’ll be a flawed 10 win team.
  24. Bryce Young won’t make it through the season behind Carolinas line and the Panthers will be a disappointment.
  25. Baker Mayfield is somehow still a starting QB which isn’t good news for Tampa.
  26. Atlanta is a year away from being really good, theyll be shopping for a QB in 2024 and then theyll be a true contender.
  27. Sam Darnold will be the starting QB for San Francisco at some point this season but the 49ers are too talented and they win the West.
  28. Pete Carroll has a good roster in a weak conference and snags the final wild card spot in the NFC.
  29. Sean McVay will have the Rams feisty most of the season until eventually injuries have them struggle in December and miss the playoffs.
  30. Arizona will be first on the clock in the 2024 NFL Draft.
  31. Americas Team will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl as Mike McCarthy has them playing complementary football, Dak reduces the turnovers, and they finally get Philly in the NFC championship.
  32. Tua Tagovailoa will be healthy for 21 games this season, will be the NFL MVP, Jalen Ramsey returns to bolster an NFL best defense and on the 50th anniversary of the last Dolphins Super Bowl, the Miami Dolphins will be hoisting the trophy.
