Choose to Live Life

Yesterday I was talking with someone and I asked how his day was going and he said, “It has been alright, glad it is almost over.” Now, this isn’t the first time I have talked to someone when they were working that they said this expression but this time it really stuck with me, you are happy that another day of your life is over? You are considering the day “over” when you leave work and go home? This mindset and lifestyle is completely backwards to what it should be and how we should be living.

The pandemic has forced us (or given us an opportunity) to slow down and take stock in our lives, what really is important? How do we want to spend our days? Do we even stop to consider why we are doing what we are doing in a given day, week, month, year, decade? Talk to anyone on a Monday and their mood is significantly different than that same person on a Friday. Now, I fully understand 1% of the country has it figured out (congrats btw) but I am focused on the 99% who are still working to figure it out.

If you ask most people what is most important to them in their life they’ll say one of these things: family, friends, giving back, hobbies, fun. If you ask these same people how they spend their time they’ll say one of these: work, chores, driving in traffic, etc. Our most valuable asset in life is time, however, it is the asset we trade the easiest. Why do we choose to live life this way? I believe that is a very complex question but I think it starts with simply having the courage to color outside of the lines. From there, it comes down to not knowing the next steps and how to completely change their life.

This year I determined I was going to invest in myself and create the life I wanted for myself and my family. I was going to force myself to think different, take changes and invest money to make this change happen. I began working with a Coach, I began to think clearer and differently, I began to actually not only believe but know that my life was changing. I began designing my ideal day, week, month, year. I wrote my 3 year Vivid Vision that actually brings what I am going to do to life. I created an April 30 day challenge to help people within my inner circle. I became instantly positive over negative, so much so that people commented on the shift. Epiphany!

My entire life I have loved coaching, just more in the athletic sense of Bobby Knight yelling at an official or throwing a chair, but coaching none the less. I have never been a terrific athlete (or even below average) but I love getting athletes (people) to be the best version of themselves. Which leads me to what was sitting right there in front of me all along.

If I truly believe that everything we do comes down to a choice then why not help people make the choices that they truly want to make? I know that my best self and the reason I was put on this planet was to help others be their best self and make the right choices. I believe that everyone of us can benefit from coaching (If Tom Brady needs a QB Coach we can all use one). My goal is simple, I want to be able to live the life I want to live by coaching others to live the life they want to live. I plan to continue sharing my thoughts here as this is literally the start but I hope that you will join me in this journey.
