What is Coaching?

I was at a Bachelor Party over the weekend and I was talking about starting my Success Coaching business to someone and they asked me a great question, “What would be the result if I worked with you?” I think this is a fair question anyone asks when they are about to pay for a service, I know for sure I wouldn’t pay the auto mechanic money or landscaper money without understanding the intended outcome. Coaching, however, is really different so I answered honestly and said, “I don’t know.” Now, I don’t know about you but I don’t think I would like that answer from my auto mechanic but if you are exploring working with a coach, it’s the absolute answer you should look to hear.

Coaching is not a simple process where you work with a coach and double your income in 1 session, there isn’t someone that is going to make the difficult decisions for you, it isn’t someone that is going to wave a magic wand and poof, all of your problems are gone. So why invest in a coach? The reason is simple, the process could quite possibly change your entire life.

I began working with my Coach in February 2021 and in that time my entire life has changed for the better. I was challenged to think positively and to let go of past failures. I was pushed to not just think that my life was going to be everything I want but truly believe down deep in my core that it was going to be exactly as I had always wished. I was taught to celebrate the great things that were happening in my life and not just move to the next goal. Most importantly, I was taught to believe that taking action now was absolutely critical in moving forward.

I took about 3 months to research and decide on the Coach I decided on and it was an interesting process. I talked to people who had different levels of price packages, I talked to people who guaranteed they would double my salary after the program ended, I talked with people who would cut their cost in half if I signed up that day. Then I talked to the person who I ended up coaching and it was a completely different process. It was a true interview where we both asked each other real questions to see if we were a good match, there was one program she offered because that is how she felt she could best help her clients, and I could absolutely take a few days to think about it because she wanted to make sure I was absolutely ready and right for this experience. The key difference was she knew her value and if we both agreed it was a good match she was eager to help me reach my full potential.

Fast forward to today, I had my first coaching session with my very first client just 2 months after deciding to launch my own Coaching Business. I thought it was an awesome first session and I hope that my client got the same energy from it that I did.

Someday my number is going to be called and when I get to wherever it is we go after life I picture someone reviewing how I did with my time on earth (let’s hope they grade on a sliding scale for the early twenties) and they will say I gave you these gifts and this potential, how did you use them? Did you help as many people as you could help? Yes or no? This is what motivates me to do better, to help more, and to put my ego aside and hopefully help.

I can’t sit here and say that I will double your salary, help you lose 50lbs, or help you meet your future spouse. You don’t have to make a decision by the time you are done reading this article nor will I slash my value in half. I can however, sit here and say that I genuinely will help you find the WHY for your life and then help you reach that potential. Not tomorrow, not next year, not in 5 years, TODAY!

If I had to go back in time to the Bachelor Party and re answer that question I would still answer “I don’t know” but I would add on, “but let’s find out”
